Jess

ADMIN ASSISTANT

What is your background?

I grew up in Melbourne and moved to the Northern Rivers with my partner in 2019 for some warmer water!

What do you remember best about primary school?

I loved school. My favourite subjects were English, Art, and silent reading. At lunch you’d find me reading my way through the library, getting blisters on the monkey bars or doing handstands on the oval with my friends.

Where else have you worked and how has it shaped your outlook?

I worked in publishing houses in Melbourne and then became a freelance editor, so I love working with words. I also teach kids and adults yoga. Working part-time in the BCPS office nicely rounds out my week.

Why do you enjoy working at BCPS?

The lovely group of staff and getting to know the gorgeous kids and families. My highlights are teaching after-school kids yoga here and the school’s special events like the Lantern Parade.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

When I was 21 I backpacked solo around the world for a year, spending time in south-east Asia, Europe and the Americas, which was the best experience in personal development and growth.

My latest greatest achievement is my baby boy.

What aspirations still lie ahead of you?

I’m currently studying prenatal and postnatal yoga and look forward to teaching in that space. One day I will write the children’s books that are rattling around my brain, and I am excited to raise a happy, healthy family in this beautiful part of the world.

What occupies your time outside school hours?

I live in Lennox with my husband, our baby, a silly white groodle called Heidi and a slinky black cat called Rollo. If I have a free minute I like yoga, surfing, hanging at the beach and lake and reading a good book.
